Abstract

Mineral, plant and virtual memory; the future of the book, human communication, the extinction of planet Earth and the thresholds are concerns that Umberto Eco develops in his book La memoria vegetale e altri scritti di bibliofilia. This work reflects on these themes which are linked to fictional worlds that disturb the notion of “real world” that we have built.
