Who are we?

ADILLI is the Association of Teachers and Researchers of Italian Language and Literature. Although officially founded in 1989, its origins date back years earlier in Buenos Aires, where a group of professors gathered to form an association dedicated to developing studies in Italian literature and comparative literature.

From the outset, there was a clear interest in expanding the scope of research to include linguistics and language pedagogy. Subsequently, other areas such as immigration, translation, and intercultural studies were incorporated.

In 2023, Caleidoscopio was launched—ADILLI’s digital journal of Italian studies—with the aim of contributing to research and scholarship across various fields: linguistics, literature, essays, and creative writing.

In November 1985, a small group of teachers and specialists in Italian literature in Argentina met at the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires to found ADILLI (Association of Teachers and Researchers of Italian Language and Literature); within a year of its inception, the association already had 23 registered members.

In 1989, the process of obtaining legal status began, which was granted on August 22, 1990. During the 1991 conference in Córdoba, issues regarding the Italian language and its teaching were incorporated, thereby fulfilling the objectives—"to bring together teachers and researchers of language, literature, and related disciplines"—that had driven that initial meeting.

Nearly forty years have passed, and ADILLI has continuously—and indeed surpassed—the aspirations that justified its creation.
